Kit Bag

An essential item that we all often carry when we are travelling is a kit bag. We love to pack in all items of day to day use because it is never a good idea to search for your shaving kit while travelling. Kit bags are not only used during travel but they come handy when we face and emergency and have to leave at short notice. Most people pray and hope that they never really have to face natural calamities like a snowstorm, forest fire, flood, tornado or earthquake. However, nobody really has a control upon all these things so we need to be always prepared. An emergency kit bag can be a life saver during such emergencies as it has all the necessary equipments, clothes and essential items that you might require to survive in harsh conditions.

Preparing an emergency kit might take a little time and effort but it can help you and your family to survive for at least three days during an emergency:

  • Most of us use smartphones, so we rarely note down the emergency numbers on a notepad. However, you need to do so and list the emergency contact numbers of police, fire department, hospital etc. Keep the list inside the kit bag so that you can refer to it when your phones run out of battery. You also need to note down the numbers of your family members so that if you get separated, you can at least contact them.
  • If you are not willing to put in your time and effort in preparing a kit bag then it is best to go for the readymade kit bags available at the stores. These bags have all the items that one would require during an emergency. Just check that it includes everything that you want or would like to use during an emergency.
  • Items that are generally included in readymade kit bags are tinned food, garbage bags, water, candles, batteries (D”&AA”), radio, flash lights, toiletries, tissue paper, blankets, first aid kit, essential medicines etc.
  • If you are preparing a kit bag that will help you survive during an emergency, then you should include some other items like a knife, tarp, leather gloves, whistle, match box etc.

There are several other things that you can include in a kit but it depends on the type of kit bag you are preparing. You can prepare a kit bag for travelling and that would mean a few more items being removed from the above list and adding some that you will require during a journey. Whatever may be the reason, you have a kit bag to give you company because at the end of the day, you need to feel safe and secure wherever you are – there is nothing better than the kit bag.
